Maine has some great food and the next time you are headed through the Lakes Region, check out the Beacon Bar & Bistro along The Causeway in Naples.

Owner Lisa Cooke says her parents and other relatives owned The Lobster Pound years ago, so the food business is in her blood.

One day, as she was driving home to Bridgton, something caught her eye on The Causeway.

“So, every time I drove by this building, I always thought it would be fun to have a little restaurant," she said.

She and her husband bought the property in 2020.

“When we started our first year, we didn’t have a fryolator or any sophisticated commercial equipment. We just worked with a regular stove," said Cooke.

That setup actually led to what is now one of the most popular items on their menu - a cast iron hot honey chicken sandwich.

"We do our own hot pepper relish," said Cooke. "Then we do honey, hot honey dressing over the top of it, which is a little bit hot, little bit sweet. So, kind of sweet and sour.”

The menu includes many more delectable options, including lobster, steamed clams, brisket, lobster rolls, lobster BLT, lobster popovers with hollandaise sauce and much more.

This take-out business offers all outside dining. There is even a stage for entertainment.

"We have all kinds of entertainment. We have a couple different reggae groups that come up. One my husband used to sign with out on Peaks Island a long time ago," said Cooke.
